Noctis never really knew his mother, but he was very familiar with his father, King Regis. The two of them never spent too much quality time together, considering Regis was a busy man with a load of responsibility that Noctis didn't understand in his younger years. His father was burdened with a lot of things, including the wall that kept Insomnia safe - because of these things, Noctis was primarily raised by the castle's servants. As a child, he was distant and aloof; as he aged, those two things remained, but he gained some other key factors into his personality that make him into the prince he is today.
When Noctis was younger, one of the main individuals who was tasked in training him to become the fighter he was destined to be was a hot-headed warrior by the name of Gladiolus. His father was the King's main guard, and thus his life was sworn to Noctis without much of his own say-so. The two butted heads at first, but after the prince got to know Iris, his sister, the two of them slowly started to warm up to one another. Noctis has learned worlds of techniques and battle styles from Gladio, and he became one of his friends who journeyed with him across the country.
[break][break]
Ignis, as well, was tasked with making sure the prince was taken care of, but in a way much differentiating than that of Gladiolus. Ignis was tasked to be his adviser, and through that, he wound up taking care of Noctis in more ways than one. Whether it be cleaning up after him, cooking for him or even being a sense of reason whenever Noct's failed him, Ignis always proved himself to be a crutch for the king's son to fall back on.
[break][break]
Last but not least, Prompto was Noctis' best friend. In elementary school, the prince could recall being gawked at nonstop by the blond pudge-ball, and it was a little freaky at first, but as the years passed with nothing but silence between them, Noct became rather used to it and simply allowed it to roll off of his shoulders like water. As the two of them started high school, Prompto finally approached him, and even though his attitude was chipper, it was obvious he was hiding some real inner demons. Of course Noctis remembered him, but he didn't want to crush the chocobo-lover's little feelings.
[break][break]
For as long a Noctis can remember, a war was prominent in his life. His father and the servants who raised him tried their best to keep it under wraps and not let the child's mind be altered by the horrors that lay beyond Insomnia's magic barrier, but that didn't top the intuitive child from putting pieces together. His father's health deteriorated in Noctis' teenage years, and the war's presence felt as though it was getting closer and closer to being an imminent threat in Noctis' world. He was told by his father that the war had the opportunity to be ceased if an act of treaty were made - the joining of Noctis and Lady Lunafreya by marriage. Luna, as he called her, was a being known as the Oracle, a counterpart of sorts for the King. Her calling was to commune with the Gods known as The Six and allow Noctis to receive their blessing.
[break][break]
Noctis, Gladio, Ignis and Prompto all set out on a journey in their car named the Regalia to travel across the country in order to set foot in Altissia, the place where the prince would be wed to Lady Lunafreya. Just before they could board the ferry to arrive in the other country, however, they received word that Insomnia had been attacked by Niflheim, the enemy country, and King Regis had been discovered dead. With his world torn apart and the knowledge that his father was now dead due to the Empire's attack, Noctis was left to fight back with his three friends. It was easy to feel as though he was against the entirety of the world, but with his friends at his side, it was much easier to fare.
[break][break]
All of their troubling journeys left them face to face with Ardyn Izunia, the chancellor of the Empire who was intent on giving them all as much trouble as humanly possible. He was using creatures of the dark known as daemons to pread his hatred throughout all of Eos, and the only one who could stop him was the "True King," named by The Six. Noctis was the only one who could fight back against this powerful, putrid man. Even after his mind had been toyed with and he thought he'd lost everything, he pushed forward into the heart of the Empire's base all alone in order to bring light back to the world being covered in vile darkness.
[break][break]
If he could find the Crytal of Lucii and communicate with it using the Ring bestowed to him by the late Lady Lunafreya, then he would be able use its power to push back the daemons, ultimately saving Eos from destruction. He had been reunited with his friends in the midst of all this hell, but unfortunately that didn't stop the daemons from their ceaseless attacks; he was forced to leave them behind in a siege of battle in order to find the crystal. As soon as he did, he held his hand up to it, only to realize the Crystal started to pull him in. Noctis tried to fight it as much as possible, but the force was too great - he succumbed after a few brief moments of fighting; the last thing he saw was the mocking face of Ardyn, saying he'd be waiting for his return.
[break][break]
When Noctis' eyes opened again, he was met with a blackened sky, though the flashes of lights engulfed him. He jumped to his feet to find that he was surrounded by a bustling of people; if it weren't for the couple feet of distance between himself and the walkway, he would have been trampled. He heard voices asking if he was okay, and after a brief questioning, he found he was in a place known as Kindra, or more specifically, Nexus.. It was a place much different than Eos, but it wasn't unpleasant. Was this an act of the Crystal? Or did his friends somehow manage to follow him hear a well?
[break][break]
And did the Empire?
[break][break]
It can take quite a bit of time to truly get to know Noct; his personality is hidden under a lot of aloofness that can only be described as... Him. It's not that he's necessarily a mean person, he's just a little socially awkward and can sometimes fail to hold a decent conversation. He comes from a rich background, his father a king and his mother having died when he was too young to even remember her. More often than not, the prince was raised by the servants of his castle, so he's used to being taken care of and he takes to it a little too well. Ignis always did his cooking and cleaning, and Gladiolus always made sure to pick up the slack and provide protection when things got too rough. Prompto, his best friend, provided him with someone to play King's Knight with and laugh over the stupidest things... After losing them to whatever happened to their world, he feels at quite a loss.
[break][break]
Needlessly said, that aloof attribute about him has increased quite a bit ever since he'd been torn away from Eos. For the longest time, he'd only concerned himself with the simple things. Lady Lunafreya, his friends, and King Regis - his father. He kept his thoughts away from himself, just because it was far too easy to get lost in how screwed he knew he was when it came to that sort of responsibility. The Ring of Lucii which destroyed his father's health was to be passed down to him, and that weight heavily on his shoulders. But... Now, everything has been turned upside down in ways he can't even comprehend. All he can think to do at this point is to search for his friends, but even that is causing him to feel hopeless - where does one even begin that sort of search?
[break][break]
All in all, though, Noctis isn't a bad person. In fact, he's one of justice and doesn't allow any wrongdoing to happen in his presence. He enjoys making others laugh, though he also knows when to be serious. He's filled to the brim with sarcastic remarks and witty complaints, so it can easily be said the prince knows how to have a bit of fun when the situation calls for it. There are times, however, when he can get overwhelmed and the stress comes crashing down. These fits can come out in the form of tears, or anger directed at those who don't deserve it. Noctis dearly cares for those around him and will do anything to save his friends, but he isn't as open about it as some might hope to see in a future king.
[break][break]
[break][break]
o POWER OF KINGS A power that only those in his bloodline can possess. By traveling to the tombs of his ancestors, Noctis can receive their weapon into his "arsenal" of sorts. He is able to summon an array of different weapons to aid him in his battles. These weapons, as powerful as they may be, actually damage his overall health the more he uses them, so it's crucial he has enough curatives to withstand their use.
[break][break]
o ELEMENTAL Another power unique to someone of his stature, but this time it is not limited only to his bloodline. This power can be used by anybody, but its true potential can only be reached when used by an individual wearing the Ring of Lucii. He can collect energy from deposits in the environment and craft spells, as long as he has a magic flask to store it in.
[break][break]
o A TRUE WARRIOR His childhood was ridden with vigorous training, so it would only make sense for him to be skilled with just about any type of weapon he could get his hands on. His preferred type is that of a blade - any type of sword is something Noct can work with, though lances, daggers and guns aren't unfamiliar territory for him. In Lucis, his home country, it is a common belief and practice that the King must be able to protect his people not just through politics, but in a physical and literal sense. Those who raised the prince made sure he would be able to live up to that standard.
[break][break]
o THE ROD AND THE REEL This princely little guy can fish. It was his main hobby back home, even though his father was always far too busy to go with him. He always enjoyed the alone time, considering his life was consistently filled with being surrounded by people wanting to baby him. Catching fish and then getting to eat his freshly-cooked catch is a joy unlike any other to Noctis, so whenever he come across a nice fishing spot, he simply can't pass up the opportunity. He has a rod that appears much like his weapons - in a flash of blue light. He keeps the base of the rod on him at all times, as well as a lure and an extra fishing line - you never know when the right opportunity could arise, after all...
