I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. Cold, he'd always hated it and that's all this place was. Harsh on his skin and his sense. A distracting thing more than anything. This place was cold all the time, which was probably why he kept coming back whenever he had down time. It was numbing, if nothing else. Prevented sensation but also reminded him how alone he was out here. He couldn't remember the last time he had felt truly alone like this. Years. Before he met Farlan and Isabel, probably.
There was nothing here really all that interesting to procure. Very little of value but for things that were quite frankly difficult to carry out unnoticed. Not that he couldn't do it if he set his mind to it. He's planned more extravagant heists before. Before the Survery Corps, before...everything. Though, life had been more straight forward then. It was funny how he reverted back to his old ways the moment things got thrown out of axis.
A strange world full of strange people, it was easiest not to really fall in with any of them. He didn't want to make friends, or allies. Didn't want to care for these people, he wanted to go home. A striking thought to him, considering...well. Home was horrific compared to even the most desolate parts of this place. At least he understood the rules there. This place wasn't so different, but it was different enough that he felt off kilter. It burns for a moment, but then it numbs you template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

[googlefont=Quicksand] Working as a bartender had its ups and downs. Some people were quite funny and she found it enjoyable to watch people fumble over stools and tables. However, some people - both men and women - could be a little too flirtatious for Petra's tastes. She knew it was the alcohol, but she couldn't help but scowl at them whenever they sent a flirtatious remark her way.
Petra did prefer the way her new life was going. She had been so scared before, but once she settled in and found her own little place and her own job - Petra realized how precious life in Whitegrove was. Yes, it could be cold at times, but she was used to the cold. Whether it came from the weather or people alike.
While looking around the Inn, she couldn't help but stop suddenly, her eyes trying to see through the dim lights. The place wasn't well lit, but she could've sworn she had seen her Captain Levi. Petra also wondered if she had truly gone mad.
"Petra, darling, how nice to see you here!" Yelled a regular customer, causing Petra to jump slightly before putting on a small, wry smile. "Ah, hello. A pint of beer, like always?" The man simply nodded with a large grin. His missing teeth was a little off-putting but Petra got to work nonetheless, pouring him a pint of beer. PHARAOH LEAP.

I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. Levi's ears perked up when he heard that name. A coincidence. Or so he told himself. Petra wasn't exactly a common name, but it wasn't quite unique enough that someone else couldn't have it. Still when he turned his head and familiar strawberry blonde hair greeted his vision, he needed to inspect closer to confirm. He was probably losing his mind, but that was neither here nor there. It would be very unlikely for any of the others to actually be in this strange place. Especially not her, dead people don't just get to stop being dead. Or maybe they did? After all he was standing in some weird other dimension that is not the world he lived in. He wasn't writing anything off anymore.
As an excuse to go over to the bar counter, he down his drink in one gulp. It was less biting here, not the horrid taste of poorly made spirits from the underground. But not quite the finer stuff he'd snagged off a cart going to the inner walls either. He couldn't complain really. Still straight liquor wasn't really to his taste and beer was even less palatable. When he did make it to the counter there was no mistaking it. It was lucky he'd already set his glass down or it would have likely shattered on the floor a moment later. "Petra?" He said, voice disbelieving even though he'd confirmed it with his own eyes. Something like hope or terror settled in the pit of his stomach, because if she was alive here who knew who else was. It opened up a whole can of worms that he didn't really have the brain function to deal with right now.
"How?" He asked, eyebrows coming together to settle into a confused expression. He was glad to have found a familiar face. Doubly glad it was her and not someone like Oluo that he ran into first. It burns for a moment, but then it numbs you template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

[googlefont=Quicksand] "Petra?"
Petra couldn't help but look shocked at the voice that came out from the man she had assumed was a duplicate of her Captain Levi. She felt her eyes begin to burn slightly once she settled them on Levi, realizing it wasn't all a dream.
"How?"
"I-I don't know, Captain." She stuttered, still using Levi's given title from their world. "I-I don't know how..." She felt her eyes begin to tear up, causing her to lower her head slightly, hoping Levi wouldn't see her teary eyes.
"But I'm so happy to see you again, Captain." She forced herself to smile at Levi, despite feeling like she was going to cry. She was happy to see her Captain, and wondered if he had appeared in this world just like she had.
"Would you like a drink?" Forcing her tears back, her smile now more genuine and bigger as she went to grab a glass for Levi.
"Oi, missy! Can I have another one?" A voice shouted despite being only at the bar in front of her. Petra almost jumped but she put her mouth in a flat line. She lifts the edges of her mouth slightly and took his empty glass and went to fill it back up again, despite the lack of the man's manners. PHARAOH LEAP.

I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. Levi wasn't generally a person who sought out physical contact, but even he probably would have hugged her if there hadn't been a bar counter between then. It was hard not to with how watery she was getting. He could tell. He couldn't remember a time she had gotten quite this emotional over something and they had been on the same team for a while. It had hollowed him when she was gone. When they were all gone. He was left with a team of brand new brats after and it did nothing to fill the void.
Levi went to respond, but was cut off by the man beside him. Any tenderness that might have been in his stance was gone, and he was pulled taught like a bow string. A glare thrown in the man's direction. She might be working but he more than definitely was not. "Oi, It's pretty clear your brain is little more than a pile of shit sloshing around in your skull but I'm sure even you can manage an ounce of respect for the lady getting your drinks." Levi snipped. He didn't much care that he'd been slighted, but Petra was a different story. He wasn't Survey Corps anymore. Not really, not here. He was back to being the same kind of person he'd been back home. Only his heists here had quite a better payout. He was more than getting by. He still took care of his own. No matter what.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd been in a real brawl. Fist to fist was different than fighting titans, but he was sure he wouldn't be rusty. After all after so many years of fighting so many giants, a man would be no problem if it came down to it. He'd never really had an issue when he was young. At least not since after his mother passed. He was smart, and he kept himself strong, as much as he could with the food available to him. [googlefont=Quicksand] "Oi, It's pretty clear your brain is little more than a pile of shit sloshing around in your skull but I'm sure even you can manage an ounce of respect for the lady getting your drinks."
Petra held back the snicker she wanted to let out. The man's face was covered in shock at Levi's words, and he seemed confused on why Petra hadn't told Levi off for speaking to her customers in such a manner. Petra, however, enjoyed hearing those words as she couldn't help but look back on her memories in the Survey Corps. Sure, Levi could be a little harsh - but that was just how he was, and Petra loved that about him.
The man muttered a small apology towards Petra before practically fleeing off with his pint of beer. Petra couldn't help but watch with slight amusement tinkling in her orbs.
"You could've let me handle him, Captain." She spoke up, finally looking back towards the man she had missed most. "I've had plenty of customers talk to me like that, and they don't care if I'm new."
Petra let out a small sigh before lifting up the piece of wood that separated her from the customers - as they would have to lift it in order to get behind the bar. She slipped through and closed it behind her before standing right next to Levi, examining his face with her eyes.
"It's been so long since I've seen you... all I remember was the Female Titan and then I ended up waking up in this strange world. D-Did that happen to you also?" PHARAOH LEAP.

I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. A smirk pulled on his lips as the other man ran away with his tail between his legs, so to speak. After he was sure he wasn't coming back to pick a fight, he turned back to Petra with a more genuine smile. It wasn't often that he did, or even that he felt like he could, but his friend coming back from the dead, well there was a good reason as any.
He shrugged off the girl's response and waved vaguely. "I'm not staff here, I won't get in trouble for being rude. You will. It's no problem. People shouldn't talk to you that way." He responded with a hum. He always hated people who were dicks to people just trying to do their job with little reason. He wasn't exactly friendly or nice but he could muster some respect, even back in his underground days.
It was like a bucket of cold water when Petra asked that question. Clearly she didn't know, that she died, that he seen it. He took a breath as he shook his head in response. How did you tell someone that? Maybe this was some sort of heaven? But then, he was pretty sure he hadn't died in the other world. At the very least it would be anticlimactic if he died quietly in his sleep after everything. He merely woke up here.
"No." He responded to her question quietly, head shaking in response. His eyes were trained on the wooden counter now. Fingers picking at an imaginary speck of dirt as he did. "You didn't....make it from that mission. I was assigned a new team after coming home." He responded slowly. He was trying to be delicate, considerate. He didn't think there was a good way to tell someone they died.

[googlefont=Quicksand] "I'm not staff here, I won't get in trouble for being rude. You will. It's no problem. People shouldn't talk to you that way."
Petra couldn't help but smile at Levi's words. He wasn't wrong, after all, Petra would've probably been fired if she had said the words Levi didn't hesitate to shout at the customer. Petra sneaked a glance over to the customer, whom looked like he had downed his drink in fear the moment he got to his table. He didn't seem to have any drinking pals with him, and Petra didn't know whether to feel sorry for him, or not.
"No. You didn't... make it from that mission. I was assigned a new team after coming home."
Petra couldn't help but tense up at his words, her face losing colour as she tried to comprehend what Levi had just told her. She had died? Was this Heaven then? Petra lifted her hand to cover her mouth, her lips and entire body beginning to tremble. "I-I d-d-died?"
Petra avoided eye contact with Levi, her eyes on the ground as she tried to think of how, exactly, she could've died. Was it the Female Titan? Oluo's shout and the Female Titan's stomping flashed through her mind, causing her to gasp holding her head in her hands. She couldn't help but move forward into Levi's chest to seek some kind of comfort from the news she had not expected to hear.
With her head against his chest, she began to shake slightly, her arms wrapping around her Captain's torso. "H-How did I...?"
PHARAOH LEAP.

I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. It was like a punch to the gut the moment he saw the girl started crumbling. He watched it as it happened, and wished he could go back. Take his words back and simply not tell her, her fate back in their home world. After all it didn't fucking matter if she was dead in their shit hole world. She was alive here. And they were alive here, his heart pounded his blood pumped and the whole body aches that came with years of training like he did reminded him of that fact every single day. Sometimes he cherished that reminder, and other times he cursed it. Still none of that mattered because he suddenly had an armful of distraught Petra and he didn't know what to do to comfort her.
While he wasn't prone to physical affection, he couldn't help but draw his arms around the girl. One across her shoulders to hold her close, the other in her hair in what he hoped was a calming gesture. He couldn't remember the last time he'd done this. Years ago, before his found family died. It had been a short window but they had been family. Before that was just his mother, but he had guessed she never really wanted him. The gestures felt hollow, but she tried. That was more than he could say about a lot of people. This was like neither of those things. A comrade he hadn't let himself get as close to as he felt with her. Now that seemed to be out the window, one didn't just keep someone back from the dead at arm's length after all.
There was no use sugar coating it. Get through with it as quickly and gently as possible and move on from it. Like pulling a blade from a knife wound. "You were in shock, after Eld." He explained. He didn't get the closest of looks but Eren had seen it happen. The brat had been so broken up over it, and frankly he had been too. He just had a long history of pretending that nothing hurt him. It was the best way to protect one's self. "Too slow, the female titan caught you. You were crushed." He said, it brought bile to his throat to say, but she deserved to know how it happened. Deserved to know how she died. He's not sure he would even want to know if it were him in this situation. He wouldn't want to invoke the memories, but she had asked, and he wasn't going to deny her that.
"You're here now. That's what's important." he said gently. "You're okay." He assured her. His voice was low, barely over a whisper now. No one needed to be privy to this. Levi never let down these walls. He would never be described as kind or gentle to anyone who might describe him and he preferred it that way. People didn't push you, pity you, or pry when you were brash and cold hearted. It made losing them easier. Or at least that's what he told himself.

[googlefont=Quicksand] Petra hadn't expected the arms that wrapped around her distraught form. The hand in her hair was the most comforting, causing her lips to twitch as if they were trying to smile despite the awful news she had been given.
"You were in shock, after Eld. Too slow, the female titan caught you. You were crushed."
Petra's eyes widened when she finally connected all the dots. So Oluo's shout of her name was the moment she was crushed by the Female Titan? Did that mean she only remembered up to the last second of her life? She grasped at the front of Levi's shirt, her tears staining the man's shoulder. "So Oluo... he died too?"
"You're here now. That's what's important. You're okay."
Petra lifted her head slightly to wipe her tears away, a small sniffle coming from her. She wasn't crying anymore, and no sobs were escaping her lips. "Do you think the others might end up here too? All of those people that we've lost?" Petra wasn't sure if she even wanted to see all of those people again. The guilt that would erupt inside of her would be extremely damaging for her.
"Is it selfish of me to have a side of me that doesn't want to see everyone again? I wouldn't know how to feel if I did see them all again, especially after seeing them die..." Petra hoped Levi would understand how she felt. She had died in their world, but she didn't even know that until she found Levi in her bar.
Petra had always none that Levi was a kind man, sure he was brash and cold on the outside - but he had a gentle side hidden within himself. Petra definitely hadn't guessed he would hug her like he did, but she was glad he let himself be gentle - even if he might not do such an action again.
With slight hesitation, Petra pecked Levi's cheek before slowly unwrapping herself from him and she tried to compose herself, letting out a small breath before she gave Levi a small smile. "I'm sorry about ruining your shirt." She murmured, once she noticed the tear stains on Levi's shoulder. PHARAOH LEAP.

I didn't want to lose you by what I'd done. Levi hummed in quiet confirmation at the other. They had all been taken out in one fell swoop but it was hard for him to think about. Honestly the questions were harder than dealing with the aftermath. He wanted to just let it all lie, but here he was anyways. Tricky, but ultimately something he needed to do. After all maybe this would be good for him too. Though the idea seemed foolish.
Her next question was harder. Something that made his heart freeze in his chest for a moment and he let out a shaky breath. He had considered it as a possibility as soon as he confirmed that this was, in fact, Petra. "Maybe. There's no way to really know until it happens." He offered with mostly indifference. At least outwardly. Inwardly the idea of it terrified him. He couldn't imagine having to see some of the people he lost again. How many of them would blame him for their deaths?
In the end he couldn't blame her for feeling the way she did about it. He honestly shared the sentiment. "No. I think that, wishing peace on the dead isn't all that selfish. That facing old friends can be taxing in it's own right. I know I've lost people that I don't know I could face again." He said gently. Two stuck out in his mind, but there were so many people he had seen go down. Some strangers, and some like family. The closer they were to him, the harder he thinks it would be to approach them.
"It's fine." He assured her as he took a step back when she seemed to get a hold over herself again. He didn't blame her for the outburst, he doesn't know how he would react to learning he died. "I will say one thing. Ruined things seem to be more easily replaced here than back home." He said, attempting some shell of humor. Though mostly because anything he needed he just stole. He was sure she would disapprove of him reverting back to his old habits, but alone in a place where his progress was stripped from him, it was easiest to go back to the things that were familiar, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

[googlefont=Quicksand] "Maybe. There's no way to really know until it happens."
Petra nodded briefly, taking his words into account. She thought she was all alone in this new world, but Levi turning up in her bar seemed to be fate. As if they were meant to meet again. Whether those that she had watched fall did come back, or not, into this new world would be both a positive and a negative thing.
"No. I think that, wishing peace on the dead isn't all that selfish. That facing old friends can be taxing in it's own right. I know I've lost people that I don't know I could face again."
"... I'm happy I found you again, though, Captain." She spoke up after a small pause. A small smile made its way onto her lips despite the rather negative conversation.
"It's fine. I will say one thing. Ruined things seem to be more easily replaced here than back home."
Petra quirked a brow, processing his words for a few seconds before a small giggle left her lips. "D-Did you just make a joke, Captain?" She hoped so. It made Petra's heart flutter at the thought that her Captain was being a little more positive - even if it wasn't a whole lot. Their world was a hellhole, and she knew that it had taken a toll on her Captain - and it had taken a toll on her as well.
"But I guess you're right... This world doesn't have rations and the other problems our world had." Petra's smile was more on the sad side. There was still death, crime etc. in Kindra, but it was a whole lot different than the world she had came from. That they had come from... PHARAOH LEAP.
