Reaching out, he carefully pushed the branch from his view. He was holding his breath as he slowly inched forward, twigs and leaves crunching under his feet and he just knew that one wrong move would have his prey bolting. It was late, the sun creating shadows that made everything beautiful in the fading light. Which exactly why he'd decided to try and get a picture of the herd of duplicorns.

“Come on,” Prompto muttered under his breath. “Just a little bit closer…”
[break][break]
Prompto tried to ignore the jitters he felt in his stomach. Running off from camp by himself always posed a risk, he wasn't a fighter. Sure, he could hold his own and by that he meant he could shoot at things while running away as fast as his feet could carry him, probably screaming the whole way. Still, he didn't want to bother the others with his own whims.

“Ah hah!” Prompto gave a quiet, triumphant sound as he clicked the button on his camera, snapping the picture of his intended subject. A breathy snort behind him caused him to freeze, and he was pretty certain he felt his heart jump into his throat. Slowly letting the the camera fall to his chest, the strap around his neck keeping it from falling to the ground. He tilted his head backwards to see behind him, and his lips curved into a nervous smile.
[break][break]
“N-Nice horsey...I’m just...gonna go, yeah?” Prompto swallowed, staring at the duplicorn that was pawing at the ground. In a split second decision, he moved suddenly, spinning out of the path of the hooves that came slamming down on the spot he had just been sitting. Crap. Crap. Prompto scrambled to his feet, breaking into a run. He was never more thankful for his cross-country training as he was right now. Good on you, Prompto, great future foresight.

A shrill, equine scream caused Prompto to stumble, almost losing his balance completely. He managed to catch himself, risking a look behind him. What the? Skidding to a stop, Prompto turned and watched as the shadows he had admired so closely earlier seemed to come alive, dragging to duplicorn into their inky depths. He'd been so focused on the creature he hadn't paid attention to the fact that night was beginning to fall.
[break][break]
“Oh shit,” Prompto spoke as yellow eyes turned to focus on him. He turned on heel, starting off once more, but he didn't get far. Something wrapped around his ankle, causing him to lose his footing and he fell. He was quick to draw his gun, firing at one of the creatures that had grabbed him, but where one was another took it's place. The thick darkness started to twist around his limbs, pulling him down.

Prompto! The sound of his name broke through the panic and he twisted. Prompto’s gaze locked with blue and he reached out desperately to the outstretched hand.

”Noct!” Prompto called out, his voice tight with fear. Their fingertips brushed and it was the last thing he felt before darkness swallowed him.
Prompto maintains a playful attitude. Not having been raised among nobility like Noctis, Ignis and Gladiolus, and thus feels inferior but wishes to be useful. Prompto's upbeat personality makes him easy to engage in conversations with and makes him the life of Noctis's group, but he has a short attention span. Prompto enjoys photography, stopping even in the most dangerous of situations--like combat--to take a photo of something he thinks is cool and he one day hopes to make a profession about it.
[break][break]
He is not a combat-hardened warrior, but has a knack for cheering people up and keeping things light-hearted. This stems from having had a sad and lonely childhood, and his outward mannerisms conceal a deep thinker. He is good with machines, and can usually be found tinkering with something whenever he isn't taking pictures. He hates bugs, frequently commenting on it whenever the party defeats bug-like enemies. He complains a lot, especially about nature, but really loves animals going out of his way to help any animal that he sees.

One thing that no one knows about Prompto is that hidden beneath his wristband is a barcode. It symbolizes the fact that he is infact not born like other humans but instead was made. The fact that he was made by the Empire, a so called magitek trooper, unnerves him and he is terrifed about anyone finding out. Afraid of what his friends might think of him.

Prompto appeared in Kindra shortly after Noctis was engulfed by the crystal in the Empire's base.
