wishing for a day
lost in memories distant
Just how long had it been?
The days had started to all run together in the boy's mind, which was a feature about himself he always wished he could avoid. Even back when he was home, back in the Organization, he had a hard time keeping up with them all. He based them off of numbers in order to keep them all separated; with those numbers now gone, he felt as though there was no such thing as meaning to them. They were.. Hollow.
Kindra was a world he wasn't familiar with. Going to other worlds was part of his duty as both himself and as a part of Sora, but none of them were like... This. It was almost as if separate worlds were created just to appease this one, single entity. It made no sense, but since when did anything in Roxas' life make sense? He decided that, for now, it would be best to not question the order of things and simply try to make a place for himself. Using the keyblade, he was able to help others who were in trouble from crime, taking on certain jobs from businesses that would hire him to protect them from the strange people that would attack.
None of it mattered to him, anyway. He just needed the money so he could go home and get some sleep. He was on a job for the time being, the keyblade ready to be called to his side at any moment. His payments were always off the books, so doing a good job was necessary - the better his performance, the better he got reimbursed. He was coming to understand the sheer importance of money in a life like this, and the blond could really feel all of it beginning to weigh down on his shoulders.
That spark of sunshine that used to be in his blue eyes that his best friend would comment on... Maybe it was still there, maybe it wasn't. He certainly didn't feel it.
A shady individual began to walk up towards the bar he stood in front of, his large stature making him look rather fearsome. To Roxas, it was nothing more than a big heartless, attempting to capture the hearts of the civilians. It.. Made it easier, if he thought of them like that. Perhaps, maybe, they were well on their way. The Kingdom Key appeared at his side in a flash of light, the boy's nimble body carrying him in front of the business' entrance.
"What's your business here?" The Nobody snapped in a tone that definitely made him sound much more agitated than he truly was. In all honesty, these past few days were the most like a Nobody he'd ever felt. "You've got ten seconds to give me a good reason you've got that gun-" He nodded toward the weapon holstered at the thug's side. In return, the man gave a low growl as though to warn Roxas of getting in his way. Whatever. This once happy boy had been far past the point of caring. Axel was gone, his other friend was gone, Sora was gone - Everything was gone.
Why did he even carry on?
The man pulled out a switchblade and slashed it outward to try and injure the small blockade in front of him. Roxas quickly dodged it, swiping to the side with his keyblade and knocking the unsuspecting man to the ground. "Fire!" A loud but emotionless chant left his lips as the spell formed at the end of his blade, striking at the crook's feet. After that, it didn't take him long to run for it, booking it down the street. Groups called Syndicate, from what the thirteenth member of the Organization understood, were keen on trying to run things from the shadows. Perhaps it ran much deeper than he could have ever imagined.
Roxas sat back down at his previous spot, leaning against the wall while letting his keyblade fade away. He crossed his arms, gazing to the sky.
I wanna go home...
