wishing for a day
lost in memories distant
Why did the jobs that always paid the most make him have to go out of the Link he was learning to be familiar with? He didn't like getting too far away from Axel now that the two of them had been reunited; the concept of losing him all over again was absolutely terrifying. It was something he wanted to push out of his mind, but the possibility of it happening once more was too prominent to completely shake. Roxas truly did hate it with every fiber of his being, but at least in a place like this he could find an ounce of peace.
The beach was as white as snow, palm trees curling upward and the sound of gulls cooing not too far off in the distance. The air was salty and the sound of the waves made the blond feel as though a nap was in order. Apparently there was a town here, one that was made entirely on wood that floated along the ocean, but they would always stop here. Today was, as he was told, the day that the raft would be arriving, but he hadn't seen a sign of it quite yet. From there, he was asked to do some trading for one of the cafes in Nexus, who told him that he would be compensated in double.
And that would make for a nice rent payment, plus a gift for his best friend. The thought made Roxas smile as he took off his cream-white jacket, tossing it over his shoulder so that the sun could touch the shoulders that his sleeveless black vest exposed. He had to be careful that he didn't burn out here. How was it that Sora could spend every day in the sun, not get tan, and not have to deal with sunburn? Must have been some good sunblock back on Destiny Islands.
This place really did make him think of that world, though. Maybe that's why he found such peace. He was drawn to the ocean, always looking out at it in the distance, always listening to its song and allowing it to soothe the inner workings of his distorted mind.
Roxas found a nice place to settle down until the town arrived at their island, which had been given the name Serenity Island. A speck of land in the midst of a watery abyss - it was truly their saving grace amidst all of the oceanic depths. Underneath one of the palm trees which provided shade, the Nobody took a seat, resting his back up against the tree trunk. His fingers played in the sand for a moment as he tilted his head back, looking to the clouds.
How badly had he wanted the three of them to go to the beach together? Three? Was it really only two? Why did the shadow of memory flood into his vision when he thought of those days - a girl with bright blue eyes that matched his own, a gentle smile.. Black hair?
Roxas' head pounded then, telling him that he probably shouldn't have been treading into those parts of his head. That was fine.
For now, this would do.
