Personality[break]
Lightning comes off as cold and uncaring at first. She does not give much attention to those she does not care for deeply. She tends to hide her true feelings and close herself off from other people. She holds a great deal of responsibility on her shoulders. She has a very strong sense of duty and loyalty. She took on the role of a Guardian Corps member and it fit her well. It hardened her to others, however, just a little more.
[Break][break]
She holds a lot of guilt for the things she has done. She hides her emotions well, but those closest to her can see through her defenses. She is level headed, and tends not to rush into things unless the situation demands it. She prefers to be careful and keep the people she cares about safe. Though, she is quick to take a hit to protect others. She is a straightforward and generally honest person. She is willing to fight for what she believes in and doesn't let others stand in her way. She is easily aggravated by the “hero” personality, especially when it puts the person and the people around them in constant danger. She has little patience for stupidity and naivety. She cares about people fiercely, and have mercy for anyone that stands in her way. She has determination like no other and if you hurt the things she cares about you are as good as dead.
[Break][break]
Lately things have been...hard. For a while she felt better. Lighter, carefree and actually happy. But having her emotions sapped out of her by Bhunivelze was sure to have some negative effects. She goes between her emotions being too much, too fast, to seemingly nothing at all. She’s not had time to speak to anyone about it, but it’s a moot point now. She’s angry that is seems once again she’s meant to fight, when she wanted nothing more than to leave that on the shoulders of someone else. No god or Fal’Cie could make her bend but these world’s rules seemed...different.

History [break]
Her early life is fairly cut and dry. When they were young, her and her sister lived a happy normal life. Tragically, however, her father passed away when she was young. Worse yet, her mother passes away from illness when she was just fifteen. From then she raised Serah. It was just the two of them against the world. She changed her name, wanting to distance herself from her parents, and joined the Guardian Corps as soon as she graduated high school.
[Break][break]
She rather quickly ranked up to sergeant, but it had its consequences. By throwing herself into work she distanced herself from her sister. Too many hours at work left little time for anything else, less time to dwell on the past, but also less time to spend with Serah. This neglect of their relationship leads her to find out only on her birthday that Serah had become a Pulse L’Cie, and that she intended to marry Snow. It only causes a fight and she drives that wedge even deeper between her and her little sister.
[Break][break]
In the following days, she is forced to accept her sister is truly L’Cie, and she resigns from the Guardian Corps, boards a Purge train and goes on to find her sister. They are reunited only briefly, as her sister merely tells her and Snow to save Cocoon before being crystallized, her focus apparently completed. Angry, Lightning attempts to attack Anima to get it to free her sister, to no avail. Instead she and the few people with her are branded as L’Cie.
[Break][break]
Unable to properly deduce their focus, many of their group press forward. Lightning grows quickly impatient, and seperates from the group. Hope is the only one who follows her, and while she tries to insist he turn back at first, she takes him under her wing. Soon finding herself with a soft spot for the boy. After an arduous Journey, they find themselves in a sticky situation. About to be publically executed, Lightning insists Hope leave to try and save himself but he refuses. But with a stroke of luck, Fang and Snow appear. Hope runs with Snow, and Lightning escapes with Fang, agreeing to rendezvous at Hope’s old home.
[Break][break]
They are rescued by the Cavalry ship, fight and defeat Cid Raines and are thrust into battle after battle to try and complete or defy their focus. They fight and defeat Orphan, briefly becoming Cie'th but overcoming it. Once defeating Orphan Lightning is crystallized, waking to find that Vanille and Fang saved cocoon, by encasing it in crystal before crystallizing themselves. They were reunited with Serah and Dajh, and all seemed well. Their new goal, to find a way to release Fang and Vanille from their crystal pillar.
[Break][break]
She can't seem to trust it, however, with good reason. Shortly after finding herself in a paradox and attacked by darkness, and dragged into the abyss by chaos. The rest of her party believe her to be dead or crystallized herself. She finds herself in Valhalla. She becomes Etro's knight and becomes locked in a battle with Caius. She meets Noel during this time, sending him to find Serah. Lightning continues her battle with Caius, and aids Serah and Noel on their journey when she can, but eventually she sees her sister's death. Distracting her long enough to be subdued by Caius. After everything, she blames herself for the death of her sister, and after the battle is ended, meets her sister's spirit on the throne of Etro. They have a heart to heart, but still she feels she must atone. She takes Etro's place and remains in the Dying World, waiting to be awoken.
[Break][break]
She is chosen by Bhunivelze to be the savior, emotion sapped from her and a piece of Serah's soul placed in a body to keep her working. Lumina, causes much trouble for her along the way, and she resents Serah being used as a bargaining chip, but is unable to deny. She connects with Hope, and he guides her from his Ark, to gather souls and delay the Apocalypse. She confronts Snow, and they battle. She find women who resemble her have been murdered recently by a cult. And learns Noel is convinced that she is going to destroy the world, due to some prophecy. But she puts a stop to the cult, and faces Noel, freeing him of his guilt.
[Break][break]
Lightning fights Snow again, but this time he attempts to force her to kill him, so that he might atone for being unable to protect Serah. He nearly brings himself to become Cie'th, but Lightning is able to calm him and free him of his burden.
[Break][break]
It comes to her attention that the god Bhunivelze might be looking to go back on their deal, and she reveals she will attack the god if he does, but Lumina reminds her that it would mean betraying Hope. The only person she can still call friend in this world. She learns the god intends to purge souls of their memories and emotions, believing them to be impurities. And he wishes to turn Lightning into an emotionless replacement for the goddess Etro, and make her his. Bhunivelze turns on Lightning when his plans failed, looking to destroy his new world and human souls along with it. She becomes one with the part of her that is Lumina once again, rescuing Hope from the hold the god had on him, and watching Nova Chrysalia die with her allies reunited. Caius and Yuel offer to take Etros place to shepherd the dead, and Lightning and the others journey to the New World.
[Break][break]
Or do they? Seemingly something went....wrong. Lightning couldn't say what but she awoke in a world that definitely wasn't where she had meant to be going. Her magic seemed to be restored to her as if she was L'Cie once more, but her mark was still the burned out faded color it once was. This world was plagued by darkness, and her friends? Nowhere to be found. She could only pray they made it to where she intended they go, but part of her was terrified to be alone in this strange place. Or places. She'd fight if she had to but honestly, she'd rather leave it to someone else. However, that wasn't an option for someone like Lightning. Etro's Knight, and nearly a goddess. No, of course she couldn't just have time to rest, she squandered that in a timeless realm.
Appearance[break]
Lightning is of relatively average height, standing at 5’7. She has an athletic build, though she has a fairly frail appearance, given her pale skin and soft pink hair. Nothing else about her can be considered frail, however, as she possesses a fair amount of strength. Her eyes are blue, her hair is wavy and almost always pulled mostly to one side. Her posture is very tight, years of training to be a soldier. She’s pretty, though there’s a dangerous edge to it. Her eyes are hard from years of fighting.
[Break][break]
She’s well muscled, but scarred pretty intensely under the clothes she wears, though if you look hard enough there are even some on her visible skin. As a soldier nothing is kind, as a L’Cie, even less is easy. Her demeanor can be viewed as tense or on edge. She is described as ‘intense’ by friends and enemies alike. Rarely does she relax around anyone, but her closest friends might see it from time to time.
[Break][break]
Abilities[break]
Fighting: Lightning is a trained soldier. She is graceful in battle, and gifted in swordplay as well as marksmanship. She was a natural, picking up the skills she needed to, to become an excellent soldier. She is not the type to run into anything without weighing the pros and cons. She does not want anyone, including herself, injured because of stupid decisions. She is quick and agile, often doing flips and somersaults in battle to evade hits, or move quickly out of her enemy's range, or to move in closer to strike. She wields a gunblade named Blazefire Saber
[Break][break]
Magic: Having been L'Cie she was able to perform it relatively easily. She is able to perform all elemental strike spells, and mid grade elemental spells (Fira/Blizzara ect), with the exception of the lightning spells, which she can achieve Thundaga. She is able to do some healing, but is not as powerful at it as some of her comrades. She is able to switch between magic and physical attacks equally she is a balanced fighter.
