Ryo Shishido's life was never that exciting in the early years. His father was a teacher at the local Primary school and his mother stayed at home to care for him and his older brother. He had the normal everyday life that some people tend to crave. Yet it was rather boring to him at times. Yet he was content with the way things went with his family. The most exciting things to happen to him at this point happened at school. School where Jiro used him as a pillow while he slept and Gakuto was constantly doing something stupid. They were his best friends despite the fact that one was asleep most of the time and he was forever arguing with the other. Teachers kept a close eye on him when he was around Gakuto as far as they knew he hated the red haired boy but what no one seemed to know is it was their way of showing they cared for each other. It was just how their friendship worked.

The exciting stuff started to happen when he moved up to the middle school. Sitting in on the student orientation he wasn't expecting a fellow first-year one who had just started to announce himself as the kind of Hyotei. Atobe Keigo became the most infuriating person he had ever met and he was friends with Gakuto. If that wasn't bad enough he showed up at the tennis club as well. Apparently, the kid decided he was also the best tennis player in the school. Not that it was hard to believe when he found out the other boy had managed to beat the regulars. Things just went from there when asked if anyone had a problem with it, he stepped up without any problems. Not that Gakuto was far behind him to challenge the other boy. His skills were proven when he and Gakuto were able to hold their own against the other boy but they were still beaten. Yet that was how he found himself a first year and a regular for the team. Hyotei going out of their way to prove that they were the best school that they could beat anyone they wanted to with minimum effort.

He found himself growing cocky he had yet to lose a match not counting the one against Atobe. Yet that changed the day he went up against Keipi Tachibana. Atobe had chosen to use none regulars to play the match against Fudomin yet when the first few matches were lost he went against the captain. So sure of himself and his ability to win he underestimated his opponent. Losing the match also lost him his regulars position. Annoyed at seeing someone else playing as part of the regulars he started to train and recreate his playing style. With the help of a second year Otori Choutaro the now third year Ryo worked hard to not only find a style that fit him best but also to increase his speed. When he was ready he played against the guy that took his spot winning the match. However, when he thought he had his spot back the coach proved that in fact the rule of once a regular loses they can never be a regular again was absolute. He demanded another member be placed into the regulars instead of him. It was then he did something that while hard at first if it meant becoming a regular again he cut his long ponytail off to prove he was dedicated to being a regular. The coach said no and than Choutaro put his own regulars spot on the line something Ryo was against. It was that moment that Atobe came to his rescue much to his annoyance. Regaining his regulars position it was decided he would never play singles again. Being paired with Choutaro it took some doing but before long the duo were super close. Passing each other their water bottles or towels. Knowing where on the court they were going to be. It worked well winning the match against Seigaku yet it was enough as the rest of the team failed. He watched as a giddy Jiro lost and a cocky Gakuto and Yushi lost to the golden pair.

That was that the Hyotei/Seigaku match was over. Leaving the court it was quiet no one knowing what to say. To lose was to forfeit your regulars spot or so it was supposed to. But Ryo had gained his spot back and it seemed like coach didn't feel like replaceing all the regulars. If that wasn't worse than there was the fact that there was no more nationals and tennis was over for the year the third years would not be making it to nationals or so that's what they thought. Because of Tokyo being the host for nationals that year they allowed for one of the losing teams to move on. It was hard won and Hyotei played hard winning the right to go to the nationals. They would play Seigaku first and once again lose though he and Choutaro won their match against the golden pair. He watched as Atobe made the bet with Ryoma that the loser would shave his head and it was Atobe that would be bald for some time. Later that night there was a quick "geki Dasa Daze" aimed at Atobe wich did nothing more than earn Ryo a glare not that he let that bother him in the least. However, he found it a bit strange that when he woke up to get ready to go watch the next round of nationals with the team to wake up somewhere else that he knew nothing about.

Thoughts on his teammates-
[break]
Keigo Atobe- "Hmmm Atobe I get along better with him than I used to. I hate to admit it but if not for him I never would have never gotten back on the regulars. So I do owe him one for that. He's still the arrogant to big for himself person that he was when we first met though. I do kind of consider him a friend so I guess he's alright."
[break][break]
Jiro Akutagawa-"I've known him for years. Jiro and I go all the way back to Hyeotei Elementary. He's a great friend but he also sleeps a lot so I don't spend much time with him outside of school and the tennis club. I adore him I just have other things to be doing other than staring at him while he sleeps."
[break][break]
Yushi Oshitari- "I don't think I really know what to think about him. He drives me nuts at times but he's a good friend when need be. At times I wonder if he's just using us all to better himself."
[break][break]
Gakuto Mukahi- "Gakuto and I go back about as far as Jiro and I do. The only difference is he's probably the most infuriating person I know. He's one of my best friends but it's really hard to not want to yell at him for being stupid."
[break][break]
Munehiro Kabaji- "Kabaji follows Atobe around. I know their childhood friends but how has Kabaji put up with that ego of Atobes I don't quite understand it."
[break][break]
Chotaro Otori- "Choutaro despite not knowing him longer than Jiro or Gakuto he's probably my best friend. He's my doubles partner and I care about him a lot. I'm not going to say i see him in a romantic sense because I think it's more of in an older brother-younger brother way (it's totally not in the sibling kinda way) He's my doubles partner and we've learned to read each other fairly well so I do enjoy his company more than some of the others."
[break][break]
Wakashi Hiyoshi- "Hiyoshi is probably the member I know the least about. He's irritating but at the same time he's friends with CHoutaro so he can't be all bad right?"
[break][break]
Thoughts on other important people-
[break]
Shuichiro Oishi-"Choutaro and I played against him and his doubles partner in Nationals. He's like the mother of Seigaku and probably the most normal member of their team. I really don't understand how he survives a bunch of weirdo's like Seigaku but it would be nice to get a few pointers so I can survive the weirdness that are the Hyotei Regulars."
[break][break]
Eiji Kikumaru- "He's like another version of Gakuto flipping around on the court. Far to hyperactive for my tastes. We just barely beat him and Oishi it was thanks to him and synchro that we won it even if synchro almost cost us the match."
