History[break]
Marinette was always just a normal girl, if a little high strung. She had dreams, aspirations, and sometimes a few more responsibilities than she could handle. Between helping her parents with the bakery, school, and her dream of being a designer one day, well. She had a full plate. She was still happy. She loved her parents, more than anything. BUt for a long time she felt like, well, just plain old Marinette.
[break][break]
School wasn't great, but she got by. Chloe was a menace, she didn't have any close friends but she was friendly with most people. All that changed one fateful day. Looking back it seemed so far away. It's hard to believe that her life changed so drastically since then. When she met Alya she was glad for someone in her life that she could feel close to. A best friend. She still cared about everyone else, but having someone she knew she could rely on in a pinch was, well it was nice.
[break][break]
The most important change? She became Ladybug. A simple set of earrings changed her life so much. Suddenly her plate of responsibilities got even bigger and honestly it was a miracle she hadn't fallen over from sleep deprivation yet. Now she was juggling just about everything, and trying to make it all work. Icing on the cake she became class president as well.
[break][break]
She was unsure at first, she didn't think she was the right fit by far. Surely Alya, or anyone else, would make a better Ladybug. She even tried giving it away. Eventually though, she embraced her place as Ladybug. It's become a part of her more than anything else. She couldn't imagine giving that up, even if her life seemed so much more dangerous now. She had faced Akuma after Akuma and even though there had been some close calls they always came out on top. Her and Chat Noir made a surprisingly good team.
[break][break]
Everything had been such a whirlwind that it didn't even occur to her that, when she woke up and began rushing off to get to school that where she woke up was not her own world until her kwami managed to get her attention. It was strange, and terrifying but after all, she was still Ladybug.
Abilities[break]
Being Ladybug has changed her in and out of costume. She's stronger than she had been when she started out, more agile. A superhero in body and mind. Though there is a lot she couldn't have done before she became Ladybug, she's found she still has those physical attributes out of costume. Though the costume definitely enhances those things. For one it reduces some of the battle damage she'd receive, though she can't say she's never sore in the morning after a particularly bad Akuma.
[break][break]
Her yoyo serves many purposes. A lasso, a grappling hook, and if utility fails she can still just, hit someone with it. Though it's best and most useful ability is her Lucky Charm. She can use the yoyo to summon her an object that will aid her in stopping the akuma, and at the end of her battle, she can use it to fix all the things the akuma did to her world. Her yoyo also purifies the akumas, so that they won't multiply and terrorize them again.
[break][break]
She also has the aid of a communicator compact, to help her keep in touch with Chat Noir.
[break][break]
As Marinette her skills lie in fashion. She's actually quite a good designer. She's adept at sewing and designing her own clothes. It started as a hobby and became a passion.
She's quite good at some basic graphic design as well. She's quite a bit klutzier out of costume, though that's likely easily chalked up as a confidence problem than anything else.

Personality[break]
Marinette is determined. More than anything she will go out of her way to be the best she can be. Even if that means freaking out, stressing out, and making ill-advised decisions in order for everything to go perfectly. She gets so wrapped up in worrying that she doesn't think things through at times, but at the end of the day she is a good person.
[break][break]
Still there are things she would rather keep hidden. She sees herself as Marinette and herself as Ladybug as too separate entities at times. She's not as confident in herself as Marinette as she is as Ladybug. She can be hard on herself, unforgiving especially if things don't go perfectly. She's a nervous wreck around her Adrien. Literally to the point of being unable to speak to him, though she's trying to get better the more time she spends around him, which given his friendship with Nino and Alya has been more frequent.
[break][break]
It's a strange mix of anxiety and confidence that allows her to stick up for herself and others, especially when it comes to Chloe's reign of terror. Sometimes she feels like her emotions are speeding out of her control, and it takes quite a bit to bring down all the pent up energy.
