excerpt from a small town's newspaper:

It's a curious and miraculous thing. I met a dog the other day, or someone who was ostensibly such. I say 'someone' intentionally, as this dog was more personable than most one will meet. Even considering the diverse sorts we see throughout the Links of Kindra, I will never forget this small fellow, who was so large of heart.
[break][break]
On the surface, what an observer might note of him is exactly that: his purple and black exterior. This is novel in canids, to my experience. And yet far more remarkable is how few people find that trait itself remarkable, or indeed any of his other oddities. When he speaks the commonest tongue of Kindra; presents reasoned arguments; shows initiative, compassion, and bravery beyond what most would; or even changes his very form to illustrate concepts, almost none seem to notice. The dog himself doesn't even seem to consider this phenomenon anything more than a minor frustration. Indeed, I've only met one person to find him more than a cute pet, and that was a strange young woman not long in town.

This article is more a request than anything else, but I fear it shall fail. Even when describing him to third parties, their eyes seem to glaze over as they casually accept these details without seeming to fully process them. My hope is that by spreading this, any who meet and recognize him may aid his quest, as he did the search for and rescue of my daughter, who had by some means been made into a beast so fearsome none would speak with her, save the witch who made her so, and this most stalwart dog.
[break][break]
So please, readers anywhere: do not dismiss this piece of writing, if you are cognizant of it. He searches for his human, or indeed her husband, if that helps find her. Like so many of us, he is from elsewhere, and knows not how he arrived. He has spent many frightful years defending his owner from myriad supernatural threats in their "Nowhere, Kansas", despite his own mortal terrors even relating the tales to me.
[break][break]
He's combatted a maniacal duck psychiatrist, possessed bedding, a merciless water shade, and undead aviators. He's helped many others, as well. A mighty sea serpent who wanted only to sing, a misfigured man who loved the chiming of bells, and rowdy children, lost and in need of parenting.
[break][break]
His unyielding love for his mistress means he will never cease in his mission, as I feel he will never cease to aid those he meets in need.
[break][break]
So, if you can, please help Courage find Muriel, by whom he was loved since the untimely passing of his parents as a pup. If anyone deserves such relief, he does, as does whomever would inspire such loyalty from the best dog I've yet met.
Seems a decent OOC space, this. Courage had many of the old 'toon' hallmarks that took advantage of the medium's potential for visual comedy. His body could shift dramatically for expression, and he could take an incredible amount of punishment for comedic effect. His skills were sapient and professional whenever a joke or plot called for it, and lacking when it did not. He also metaphorically and literally spoke to the audience, both acting out our fears of the monster of the week and cathartically mastering same, and breaking the fourth wall to crack a wry "The things I do for love." to us.
[break][break]
Nowhere, Kansas seems a place where people just accept their toon physics without remark, but I think it'd be interesting to stick him in a more serious setting and see how people there perceive his antics. Also, there's something pretty compelling about a strange, tiny dog overcoming his fears for love.
