Lance was born into a big family in Cuba, and even though they were a humble group, there was quite a lot of love and laughter. As the boy began to grow up, he took an interest in planes, but his favorite thing of all was spaceships. He had books on them, he'd watch videos of them, and he would talk about them all the time. His mother thought his hobby was cute, though his dad wasn't as supportive due to their lack of funding. As far as he was concerned, sending him to a school to further that type of education was impossible, but as Lance continued to age, that was what he secretly always striving for. At his school, a grand opportunity came his way - the Garrison was looking for cadets they would be able to train. Of course the young Lance was more than ready to jump right into the training and learning courses if it meant he got to fly.
[break][break]
When he told his parents, they were ecstatic for him, and they quickly filled out all of the necessary paperwork to get him into the program. He was sent to the Garrison, far away from his family, but he was intent on making them proud. During his training was where he met Hunk, Pidge and Keith, the latter two being his best friends. Keith was what he more of considered his rival, but that was obviously a one-sided relationship as far as that was concerned.
[break][break]
During one night of he and Hunk planning on sneaking out, something stopped them in their tracks - a ship was coming their way from seemingly another planet. The broadcast that was coming through Pidge's equipment was Voltron. On the ship they saw Shiro, one of the lost members of a lost mission which had been thought to have killed all three members. They sneaked on board to save him, only to meet up with Keith who had the same idea. Begrudgingly, they all went on their way and made their great escape to the place Keith had been living. At this point, they began to track a strange signal that Keith had picked up, which in turn led them to the Blue Lion. Blue quickly accepted Lance as the paladin, scooping the five up into her mouth and allowing them to travel past the Earth's atmosphere and into the depths of space.
[break][break]
The destination had been a strange castle, where the five soon-to-be Paladins met Quran and Allura, two Altaians who were apparently the last of their kind. Princess Allura informed the five of them that they were to find all parts of Voltron in order to keep the Empire at bay, which was comprised of an alien race known as Galra. After all of the pieces were assembled, the paladins took the fight to the Galra and assisted planets in need of help. Lance was always keeping up his cocky attitude during these times, but it was all out of good fun - these times, though he did have to say he missed his family, were the best times of his life.
[break][break]
They were evading Galra pursuit when Allura opened up a wormhole for them to travel through, and Lance and Blue seemingly got separated from the group, causing him to wind up in a strange new universe, one unlike anything he'd ever seen. He has hidden Blue away in the depths of an island in a place called Arus, which is a smaller part of a bigger picture known as Kindra.
[break][break]
He spent a couple of days on the island, though there were plenty of supplies and crops to sustain him for the time being. Luckily, the civilization known as Oasis was quick to locate him when they arrived in order to stock up on supplies. They let him join their community without so much as a second thought. He felt a little uncomfortable leaving Blue all alone at first, but the more he thought about it... The less sense it made to try and bring her with him. With her force field up, there would be no way for anyone to take advantage of her. For now, all he can do is try to live a partially normal life, taking on employment in one of the many shops in the floating village while he worries about his friends and what became of them. It was possible that the rest of them wound up here, but he didn't know what world they could be inhabiting - it is currently in his plans for him to begin looking for them... It's just knowing where to start is the hard part.
[break][break]
If Lance could say one thing about himself, it would be he was a charming and cool guy, but in all actuality, he's about the exact opposite of such things. He's obscenely arrogant and cocky, and thinks he can get away with just about anything. That, however, doesn't mean he's a bad person at heart. Lance is a teenager with distinct personality traits, but he's also rather complex all at the same time. The things he likes he is very passionate about, and he has the habit of taking things a little too far every now and then. This trait is probably best shown in his competitiveness, especially when it come to Keith.
[break][break]
Of course he'd never be the one to admit it, but all of that stems from growing up in a large family and having inferiority issues. He was a middle child, and even though he knew his parents and siblings loved him, it was hard trying to strive for the affection his type of person needed. So, in turn, this feeling developed into that sense of inferiority, and gave him the urge to prove himself in anything he does. Because of this, teaching him things and trying to give him criticism will most likely result in Lance getting his feelings hurt.
[break][break]
That being said, he's quit the emotional guy as well. His heart is way too big for his body and he tries to help those in need whenever he can. He was chosen to be the Blue Lion's paladin when he had first come across her deep in that cave back on Earth, and ever since then he's been trying to prove himself to the team - trying to prove he's worth something to them. Maybe it's more of he's trying to prove he's something to himself. But that's all up for speculation.
[break][break]
Lance is a hopeless flirt, egotistical, shameless, and snarky individual, but he is also kind, caring, intuitive, and selfless. He would gladly give up his own safety if it meant keeping those close to him unharmed. These are the things he has a hard time admitting to his friends, but he truly does hope they understand just how important they are to him.

oTHE BLUE PALADIN - Lance is paired up with the Blue Lion, one of the legs of Voltron, a large robotic space weapon made up of five parts that come in the form of lions. Being a paladin means he and the Lion share a deep, complicated connection that can be very difficult to explain. While piloting his Lion, Lance is able to travel from world to world with ease, and he can battle other ships if needed. Without the other pieces of Voltron, however, there's no way Blue will be able to reach her true potential. The Blue Lion also harnesses the power of ice, which Lance believes because of his cool attributes.
[break][break]
oINTUITIVE - While Keith is more of the act-first think-later attribute to the team, Lance is the one who will take a step back and examine the situation. He's not exactly intelligent when it come to book smarts like Pidge, but he's able to come up with some pretty solid plans to keep them from being exposed during stealth missions. He never did well in school, but Lance is rather good at coming up with strategies for battle.
[break][break]
oSHARPSHOOTER - His main weapon outside of his Lion would be his bayard, which takes the form of a laser rifle. Lance is extremely gifted when it comes to shooting and aiming with just about any gun he can get his hands on.
[break][break]
oA FEW TALENTS - He likes to play guitar and sing! He's not too great at it because he hasn't much time to practice it ever since he took up the occupation of being a "Defender of the Universe," but it's something he still enjoys doing.
