from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night Ahh, finally. Another stupid shelf stocked. The people who closed last night certainly didn't do too good of a job, that was for sure. He would have a rather firm word with them, if he... Cared that much. Lucky for them, he didn't. All he cared about was getting his shift over with so he could have the rest of the day to himself. Not like he had too much in store to do, he simply didn't want to waste away his time putting ridiculous knickknacks upon shelves that tourists would come and buy only to take back to Nexus and show off. It was whatever, though. As long as it meant he got his paycheck, right? Right. The tall, slightly lanky teen tilted his head to the side and popped the bones in his neck. He sighed in relief at the sensation, picking up the box that held the contents he was placing upon the shelves, moving it over just a bit so he could continue what he was doing. What a way to start the day, huh? A boring morning that would lead into a hopefully not-as-boring rest of the day. Lance felt a rush of sea wind flow through the open window of the wood structure he called his workplace. For a moment, the tan-skinned boy couldn't help but stare, his chocolate eyes sparkling from the beauty. It looked far too much like the coast of his hometown... But he didn't want to let his thoughts tread there for the time being. The thoughts of his family only saddened him. As did his teammates. This place was wonderful, but... It would never feel complete without the others to share it with. It wasn't like he'd truly made any friends since he arrived here in Kindra about a month or two prior. Lance, unlike himself, stayed primarily quiet and remained deep in thought more times than not. Was the war still waging? Were the Galra taking more, and more, and more, until there wouldn't be a speck of life left in the whole universe? What would those people do without Voltron there to protect them? A sudden pang of realization and disgust hit him, causing him to tear his gaze from the oceanic view and continue his work. Anything to get his mind away. Maybe... They just ended up replacing him. Wouldn't be that hard to do, anyway. Keith Koganenotes -- lance got sad at the end there whoops :3c [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity Half a year was a long time. That's how much time he was pretty sure had passed. He'd started losing track of weeks and then maybe even months at a certain point. He'd been hopeful that this had just been some weird planet again. That the others would be able to locate him from Red's signal. That he would be able to seek them out. However, when it became clear this was some whole other Universe, his hope fizzled. He was not an optimist. He never really had been. Not even before everything had happened. Now he was just a husk of who he had been. Maybe this was on purpose. Maybe Allura would rather risk not being able to form Voltron, if it meant getting rid of the Galra on the team. They had made their amends, but that was right before he had left on a suicide mission. Maybe she had hoped he would die on that mission.Keith shook his head of those thoughts. He knew that probably wasn't true but it didn't help that they came back to haunt him every now and again. But the thing about Keith was he was a survivor. It didn't matter if he had hope, or if he was even happy. He would not let himself die. He couldn't just let himself wallow into nothingness. So he'd settled in Tuuleen. There was always something to keep him busy there. Between Scavenging items to make some actual money, to simply making his small space liveable. First it was shelter for when the rain was blown into the stupid cave he'd found. A bed came next because not even he could deal with sleeping on the rocks, in Red's pilot chair or on the bed of leaves he'd made himself in the first few days for too long. After that is was anything he could find. He'd learned how to make the furs from some of the monsters he'd fought into blankets. It was a long process, and they weren't anything special or anything, but they were clean and warm. But even he couldn't live on meat and berries forever. He knew easily what berries and mushrooms were edible, but further than that there wasn't too much edible in that forest. The meat from beasts he'd slain was pretty okay. Better than food goo. Still, eventually he could feel his body was off. That his meals weren't nutritionally complete. So he'd make a trip to the other links to try and get some vegetables. So far Arus had been the most successful place for that. Not to mention it was a nice change of pace from the Link he made his home in. A vacation and a grocery run all in one, though he never really had gave himself the time to enjoy the beaches that were so famed in this Link. He did sometimes check souvenir shops. While he didn't really have much hope, sometimes he needed to pretend that he did.So he'd stop in the silly shops that sold souvenirs. So far he'd found some interesting hot sauces and novelty spices for Hunk. A few silly little alien trinkets, and a green little bracelet that had reminded him of Pidge. Books and shitty mugs with awful jokes on them he knew Shiro would appreciate. Or at the very least be exasperated with him for getting for him. Lance was tricky, but he's found some things. Jewelry, mostly. And a few horrible t-shirts with awful jokes he knew Lance would like. He kept doing it, and lining up all the things he'd found in Red. Treasures for his friends didn't just come from gift shops, in fact there were more he'd made himself just to pass the time. If he did find them again he'd wanted something to let them know that even if he didn't know how to express it all the time he was thinking about them.Today he'd been drawn in by a hot sauce bottle with a tiny cowboy hat that made him snort and roll his eyes, but he wanted to get it for Hunk. So with the ting of the bell of a random gift shop he stepped in. Only to nearly drop that very same bottle when he spotted Lance. Reflexes only just managed to catch the bottle with his foot, and lift it back up to himself before it shattered on the ground. "L...Lance?" He asked quietly. His voice sounded incredulous, like he couldn't believe what he was seeing. But he was hopeful. Oh so very hopeful. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night The sound of the familiar chiming caught his attention, though he didn't make himself turn. It was probably just another tourist that wanted to take home a little trinket, so he didn't think much of it. He had opened his mouth to speak when a noise caught him off guard - the person had spoke first. And they... Knew is name? Alright, now that was grade-A weird. His mind did manage to act fast, however, and he was able to place the voice with an individual. One he was way too used to hearing, but one that he had been missing more than he could ever put into words. Lance's shoulders had stiffened up, throat moving as he gulped while he turned. His light and hopeful brown eyes laid upon a sight he thought he'd never see again. That stupid hair! " Keith-" His voice failed at first, hands fumbling with the object in his hands as he attempted to figure out where the hell to put it down. His world was spinning, his heart was pounding and his lungs were burning with a ferocity that matched the stinging of his sinuses as he fought back tears. The earthling too far away from home figured out how to put the stupid thing down and he whipped around, running up to the shorter figure, automatically reaching out and taking the red paladin's face into the palms of his hands. Just to make sure he was real. Once he deduced that much, his mouth stretched into a grin that couldn't be described - tears formed in the corners of his eyelids and he shook his head as though to dismiss his own stupid feelings. " Keith-" Instinctively, the pilot leaned in and wrapped his arms tightly around the other's torso, picking him up off of his feet and squeezing the life out of him. " I never thought I'd be so happy to see your dumb hair and angry face!" Even though it was brimming with happiness, his voice shook from the war he waged against his own tears. " You're okay! You're here! How did you get here? Are the others here? Oh my god - did the Galra warp us here or something?" Lance ceaselessly rambled, all the while forgetting that he had another human being in his arms, feet dangling above the ground. [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity Keith could damn well hear the tears Lance was holding back in his voice. There was a fundamental difference between him and Lance that he really, honestly, envied. Lance felt his emotions bright and in color. They were just under the surface waiting to bubble over for everyone to see. Half the time he couldn't figure out just how to express himself when it didn't come to outright anger. Or he bottled them up until all that was left was the frustrated feeling of not being able to get it all out, and it left him in explosive bursts. Very few people in his life had been able to see past that. Though it seemed, sometimes, like the other paladins were able to see through the walls he didn't even remember putting up. Still it made him feel better being around people who were more open. It made him feel better to be around Lance, who seemed to be able to feel enough for the both of them. His thoughts were halted however, when Lance literally picked him off the ground in a bone crushing hug. A wild sort of panic was quick to settle in. It had been months. Six months at least in the Link that was Tuuleen. He'd receded back into himself. Became little more than a hermit, or an animal, clawing it's way in the wilderness to survive. As much as he wanted to express the same excitement to see his friend again, a hold like this only made him panic. Inability to breath, feet off the ground and only really the use of his arms."Lance, put me down." He said, voice panicked and he was pressing against the other's shoulders. It came out a little shorter than he wanted it to, but he couldn't. His instinct was to fight and to survive. Anything with a grip on him like this out there, was only trying to hurt him, rob him, or worse and he just couldn't deal with it. He was trying to push down the reaction but he knew it would only subside when he was in control of his body once again. He could guess the kind of hurt expression that he was going to get from Lance, so he kept his eyes on the ground when he was finally put down, and able to catch his breath from the panic that had threatened to take control of his entire body. His fight or flight response almost always bled into fight, and he didn't want to hurt Lance. He could never hurt Lance.
"A wormhole spat me out here. I'm okay more or less." He explained once he was solidly in control once again. He hated that he was this bad at interacting with him again. He'd made progress back on the Castle of Lions. He'd been able to function as a member of their team, of their family. Shit he let them into his mind. Now it felt like he was back at square one. "I'm living on Tuuleen. Six months now, give or take. Should have guessed you'd end up here though." He said, letting out a little breathless laugh. It didn't quite hit home, but the effort was made.Still he knew he needed to say more. "I'm glad to see you too, I've missed you." He admitted gently, managing to pull his eyes back from the floor to look at Lance, worried about what he would see there, but still. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night Put me down, Lance. For some reason, those words hit him harder than he could have ever imagined, and he certainly didn't want to let himself admit that it hurt. It was Keith - what did he care? He obliged, though, avoiding his gaze with pinched eyebrows and a frown for a good few seconds. He hadn't seen the guy in how long? And.. It was like things had reverted to the starting line. It was disheartening to say the least. And that was putting it lightly. The Blue Paladin tuned back in the moment that Keith's voice broke the silence, because he sure wasn't about to. What he was given was a little redeeming, though, even for mullet's standards. The way his eyes flicked up at him from the floor made a smile return to Lance's face. It seemed they'd lost a lot of ground throughout the time Keith had been here... He didn't understand how the amount of time they'd spend was different, but he'd heard of similar instances. Kindra was a weird place that made little to no sense. This was a little lesser on the "weird" scale of the place. " No wonder you morphed back into a hermit crab." Lance mused, putting one hand on his hip and leaning over slightly in a teasing manner, a coy grin on his face. It fit his personality far too well, just as it always did. Keith was a sight for sore eyes - he wasn't about to let this just go by easily. " Plus, you really need a shower. Not allowed to go home tonight." Lance shook his head and rose back up to his full height at the sound of the bell. Ah - perfect. His co-worker had arrived to relieve him of his shift, and a little early at that. He was quick to get out, making sure that the other paladin of Voltron was by his side. As smelly as he was. " That mullet's gettin pretty greasy there, buddy." He teased once more, elbowing the recluse in the side to get a reaction. " I'm gonna take you to my house so you can wash yourself. Unless you're allergic to water and people." [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity Now he just felt like an ass. He knew he was going to get an unfavorable reaction about that, and it stung. How did one just come out and explain everything that just went through his mind. Still Lance seemed to roll with it, which he was thankful for, but he still felt awful. He could only sigh at what next came out of his mouth. Yea that wasn't too far off of an analogy but honestly he'd favor something a little more aggressive. A feral dog perhaps. It seemed somewhat more suited to him.
"It's been a long time, Lance. Anyone's going to come out a little.." he made a vague motion with his hands because he couldn't quite figure out the words he wanted to say. Abrasive? No. Cagey would probably be a better description. "after living in Tuuleen for any span of time." He laughed a little. It wasn't all that different from his desert shack. Except that more things wanted to kill him here.
He could only roll his eyes at Lance's next tangent. And he'd admit maybe he could do to shower more but Lance was acting as if he'd not bathed since he got spat out in this place. He wasn't that disgusting thank you very much. "I'm not allergic to people, Lance. I just..." He trailed off. If they didn't worm their way into his life persistently and on purpose, he never really bothered. "It'll be a while until I'm...okay with being that far out of control again. A hold like that in Tuuleen it's probably followed by being killed or at the very least robbed and roughed up." He explained, shrugging his shoulders. He needed to still feel like he was in control. At least a little.
"As for the water, I bathe thank you very much. There's a river like, a half mile from my camp. I managed to find soap and stuff. It's just not the smartest thing to be butt ass naked too often when you're likely to get mauled at any given moment." He complained, scrunching up his nose. But he wasn't exactly going to turn down the prospect of actual running water.
"But if you insist I wouldn't mind catching up." He responded after a moment. He didn't want it to sound like he was trying to make excuses to leave. That's the last thing he wanted. As much as he always fell into his lone-wolf ways he didn't actually like being alone. It just came more naturally to him.

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night He really couldn't come up with a reason as to why Keith was so easy to listen to. He didn't talk much to begin with unless they were in an argument, so that made the things he said otherwise that much more valuable. Lance's expression softened considerably when he spoke about Tuuleen. He'd heard things about it and The Bone Vales, sure, but he'd never dare actually going there. He'd dealt with enough monsters for the time being, and he wasn't about to throw himself back into the heat of it. Keith, though, was usually all about heat. Which was stupid, but the boy had a fiery temper that wouldn't ever be contained. Roughing out there did suit him more than the Blue Paladin wanted to say, but her certainly didn't like it. His only friend from back home consistently risking his life just to exist, while he was here living in what most people would call a paradise. " Only if I insist, huh? I guess I can commit to that." He responded with a wry smile, putting one of his hands into the pocket of his jeans. He would have put it in his hoodie if he had it - it was far too warm for the time being. At night time, however, the temperature would normally drop giving him a chance to put the familiar piece of clothing back on. He liked the memories it held... Eugh - get away from that sappy crap. They rounded a corner, stopping at a house that matched the others rather nicely. The construction here was made entirely out of wood and seldom made with other materials; wood was provided by Serenity Island, and made for prosperity here. It was where Lance had been found, and he'd been here ever since. " After you, smelly boy." Sarcastically, the blue paladin bowed and gestured into the house, which he then followed and closed the door behind them. Lance moved down the small hallway and opened the door to the bathroom; it was minimally decorated, but had the necessities which was all he truly cared for. He could worry about having a five-stare rated living environment when he had the capability of upkeep. " I'm sure you can figure out the rest. Unless you need a demonstration?" And then the door was slammed on his face, causing him to chuckle quietly to himself. Lance turned away and moved back out into his living room, peering out of the window to admire a setting sun over the water's horizon. The edge of the town wasn't too far away... His heart swelled at the thought of being able to share the sight of the Arus stars with another Earthing, one that would think of home. So he sad at the small table next to the window, stared beyond the glass, and waited. [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity Lance was so ridiculous at times. There was a reason that he often didn't know what he was doing when it came to the blue Paladin. Still he couldn't help but find it endearing and exasperating in equal measures.Keith followed Lance to his house easily, though it was quieter than he expected it to be. Closer too. Lance really lived here? Sometimes he questioned his own decision when it came to which Link to settle in but he stood by his decision. He hadn't wanted to settle down anywhere. Hadn't wanted to get comfortable. If he knew anything about his own life was that for some reason or another, better or worse, the things he gets attached to get taken away from him. It was Just better to not get too attached. He wanted to punch Lance when he gestured to his house, but he figured he'd done enough damage to whatever was left of their weird friendship already. Still he shoved him, at the shoulder before being led into the bathroom. The urge to punch Lance only grew when he was led into the bathroom. Exasperation took over and he slammed the door in Lance's face. Maybe a little harsher than he'd meant that too, but it was better not to dwell. And to get this shower over with so that he could actually spend time with Lance. Keith cranked on the water before he started to undress, both to get it to the correct temperature, but also in hopes the running water might muffle what came next. Shucking off his pants was easy, but it was a right bit trickier to peel off his shirt. A gash along his rib cage from a fight gone just a little wrong with what became his dinner the night previous. He was lucky he managed to get his bearings back, but he still had to peel his shirt away from the wound. He'd packed it with a salve he'd managed on learning how to make, leaves and a little fresh water mashed into a paste and placed on the wound. It helped, but it stuck to everything, including his clothes. He wasn't able to stop the sudden, choked off intake of breath at the pain of peeling it away. He just hoped the water was loud enough Lance wouldn't get worried. It was smooth sailing after, a quick shower, with real actual water pressure was nice. He'd admit showers were a luxury he'd missed. Cold watered ponds were never quite fun. He found a towel when he got out, but a few glances at his clothes and he decidedly did not want to put them back onto his newly clean existence. He was pretty sure there was dried blood in the shirt at least, not that you could tell considering it was black. He was resigned to tying the towel around his waist and pulling the bathroom door open. He was leaning against the door jam in such a way to hide his new injury, he hoped casually, but not the jagged scarring across his shoulder, from the Blade trials, or the various new scars, bruises and scrapes over the rest of him. "Lance, do you have something I can borrow to wear? I wasn't exactly planning an overnight when I came here." He asked, glancing to him warily. He didn't like asking, didn't like being anything less than self sufficient but he was between a rock and a hard place with this one. He wasn't getting back into grimey clothes. from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night There were times when the Blue Paladin could really get lost within himself, his own thoughts. It was why back in the Castle of Lions he was able to lay in his room for hours on end until he fell asleep. He never slept the whole time, despite what the others always thought. He played it off each time, not wanting to seem as deep as his emotions ran; being playful and aloof was the better way to go about it. It made him more likable, to put it plainly. " Huh? Oh - yeah!" He called out after saying the first two words quietly to himself while the request processed through his mind. Lance got to his feet and whisked through the hallway to his room, reaching into his closet and picking out something he figured would be a little on the small side for him - it might still hang loosely along Keith's shorter frame, but it would be entertaining to say the least. " Got'ya covered." Charmingly, the pilot smiled while handing his long lost friend the pair of clothes that would serve as his own until he felt the need to retire them. When Keith finally got out of the bathroom, the sun has completely dipped beyond the horizon, leaving the sky a beautiful array of purples and pinks. The hues were memorable, and they brought back happy thoughts of his home planet. " You good for going on a walk?" Was the first thing he asked after Keith had rejoined him in the living room. They had the whole night, so a little fraction of it could be spent like this, right..? The two of them left the house and began to walk along one of the pathways that lead to the edge of town. It took about five minutes of walking and lighthearted conversation to reach their destination. The two were then able to sit down, legs dangling off of the ledge with water rolling consistently underneath them. " Look up." Lance turned his head to the other paladin, a melancholy smile tainting his features. To him, this was important... And he wanted to share it. He wanted to share the clouds, the stars, the moon that Arus had that kept the tide churning and carrying their city. It was.. One of the only things he had to remind him of home. He hoped that Keith could feel the same. Keith Kogane notes -- this shit kills me. imma get real LMFAO [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity It was quick work getting on the clothes Lance left for him, even if he couldn't help but wince at the slight twinge when lifting his arms to pull on a clean shirt. Still, it only took him a moment to regain his composure before coming back out of the bathroom. He could feel the excitable energy practically rolling off Lance in waves, he only wished it was as infectious as some others claim it was.Keith wanted to say no. He would much rather stay in the comfort of Lance's apartment and catch up with him. Maybe take a nap without worrying if something was going to find his hiding spot, though he was pretty positive he was safe within the confines of Red's barrier he really couldn't always be sure. He really wanted to say no. But Lance has wide, hopeful eyes and before he can stop himself he's nodding in agreement. The response seemed to only increase the excitement that was Lance, but at the end of the day that was good. He was happy. Keith could suffer a little more activity if it means the Blue Paladin didn't look as gloomy as he did when he asked him to set him down again.Keith could tell he was talking, listening and responding, but he couldn't quite focus on the conversation completely. Overall it was still pleasant. He was glad to have the company again. He would never admit to a single soul how much he disliked being alone, but then, he hoped they could find a way to understand him. That he wanted desperately to be closer to people he just didn't know how. So he did what was easy, and receded somewhere he could be alone again. He'd survived it once before. It wasn't so different now.Now Keith, he wasn't so much of a stars guy. He'd seen enough of them in his lifetime. He lived alone in the middle of a desert, he'd stargazed just because there was little else to do. The awe started to wear off long ago. Still, there was something breathtaking about what the way they made Lance look. The absolute wonder and excitement on his face made him smile. Smiling wasn't something he's done a lot of in the last few months but it felt good."It's pretty amazing." He admitted, though taking a few extra moments after before actually looking up at the sky. Pulling his gaze away from Lance was difficult, though it was another thing he would never admit. And he'd admit the view was nice too. It was different over water than it was miles of sand but it still really didn't compare. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night Keith was the same, but also.. Exceedingly different from the last time they had been together. The Red Paladin had taken so much time learning how to let his teammates in, learning how to open up and be the person that was locked away under so many layers of emotional numbness. Lance had noticed that - he wasn't as ill-perceptive as most people took him to be upon meeting him. He was a sharpshooter, one that had to constantly pay attention and use his surroundings to his advantage. Of course he would take his time to examine his teammates, his friends, his family. It let him figure them all out. Keith, though, could sometimes be difficult to read. Maybe it was because there was so much going on inside his head, or maybe it was because he's gotten so good at it over the years. Whatever the case was, there was something he did notice. And that was the fact that Keith looked at him for just a moment too long. Or.. Maybe a could of moments. Lance couldn't help but smile back at him - that was the dumb Keith he remembered. The one that had finally learned to let go of so much. The one that even though he was infuriating sometimes, worked well with him in any kind of teamwork because of their polar opposite personalities. " Don't take this the wrong way," He murmured, bracing himself for what stupid mess was about to fall from his lips. " but out of all of us I could have found..." He finally looked upward, examining the sunset and the faint glimmer of stars and distant nebulas to appear in the sky. " I'm glad it's you." Ew. That really was stupid. And sappy - don't forget sappy. But whatever - Lance didn't want to let himself ruin this. " Y'know, as much as I - like - hate you. And stuff." He leaned to the side, nudging the other male playfully with his shoulder. Hopefully he wouldn't get a punch in the face due to Keith's "predatory instincts" and whatnot. " Back home, before I went to school, I lived on a beach. Well - not on one, but really close to one. We used to play there all the time. This place really reminds me of that." A breeze of salty wind whirled past them in a gentle manner, shifting their hair and making Lance take in a deep breath, letting it out in the form of a content sigh. To be honest, he was happy he was able to share this with someone - with Keith. He was happy that the other didn't blatantly call it stupid, because... This was important to him. More than he could ever express in words. [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity It was almost a moment. Lance had a habit of ruining those, seemingly on purpose. He wasn't quite sure why he felt the need to cover his tracks with excuses or ways to seemingly brush it off. Of all the things that Lance did, that probably baffled and annoyed him the most. He had a hard enough time with his own emotions without trying to decipher what exactly it was that Lance was trying to express when he felt the need to side step everything genuine. It was clear that Lance didn't understand that his openness is why he was fond of him. He was easy to read, and that was soothing. So often he found himself not being able to connect with people because they were as shut off as he was, well, maybe not exactly as he was but even still. They all had their things.Still, he could see through this at least. Enough to roll his eyes and shove him gently back. "Yea you sure hate me a lot. That's why your first instinct upon seeing me was to insist I sleep over and bathe." He teased, there was a smile on his lips even if his voice was rather deadpan. It was easier with Lance, but then so was getting annoyed with him. It all came in waves and it really all depended on so many factors it made his head spin sometimes. Keith quieted again when Lance started talking about his home life. He didn't bring it up a lot, and he got the feeling that Lance was homesick quite often. He couldn't empathize with that really, but he felt for him. He didn't have the experience of a happy home life, or a big family or even a real home. The desert shack was really all he ever knew. His mother was gone and his father disappeared too. He was an orphan more or less, and he knew almost nothing about his heritage."I can't imagine wanting to live in a place that only reminds me of the things I don't know how to get back to." He stated with a frown. It was much of his reasoning for settling in Tuuleen. Very little reminded him of the things he had grown to love back on the castle. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night Keith's dry sense of humor always managed to put a smile on Lance's face, usually no matter what the situation was. He was reserved, while Lance was outgoing. Keith was hotheaded and quick to act, while Lance would take a step back and observe the world around him. They pushed and pulled each other like they were the tide underneath Arus; without Keith, he had to admit he kind of felt empty and didn't have as much of a drive. True, he felt that way about all of his best friends and teammates, but neither of them really brought about that same ignition. His expression turned to that of light shock when he heard what the other Paladin had to say next. Huh.. He'd.. Never really thought of it that way. Kind of was like putting himself in a situation with no good outcome, wasn't it? He shifted his gaze back to the stars, and then down to the water as though he wanted to avoid them. The only thing he was able to run to was its reflection. Didn't help much. " I'unno." He sighed the word through his breath, managing the strength to lift his head back up and stare outward into the void of space he was oh-so-used to. " Yeah, guess it does kinda suck, but like-" He paused, changing the position of his jaw for a moment as he lost himself deep in thought. Lance brought one of his hands to scratch awkwardly at the back of his neck. " it's nice to think about, too. Just because you miss something doesn't mean it's bad." His eyebrows pinched as he considered how stupid he sounded. He never really was good at talking out these sorts of things. It was nice to finally let some of it go, however. " Means it was good enough to miss in the first place." As he spoke, his thoughts wandered back to the castle he'd become so familiar with. He wanted that back more than anything - even more than his home in Cuba. His friends had been let into his mind, his heart and his entire being. They made something together that no one could ever replicate - that was special, yeah? He missed it. More than anything. Keith was a part of that. " Guess that means we gotta hang out a lot. So you don't have to miss me." He turned his head, one of his eyes closing in a charming wink with a crooked smile to match. Keith could try and deny it all he wanted, but in the end, Lance knew that he had quite a lot of feeling trapped in that mullet-head of his. He'd pulled them out a few times before, and if he wasn't careful he might just figure out how to do it once more. " I wouldn't have a problem with it." [googlefont=Oswald]

Burnin' Like a Flame something I can't tame Don't wanna take it slow now, you strip my gravity Keith really didn't know how to respond to that. There was just something on a basic level that must be different about the way they feel the loneliness that comes from missing someone. Still he doesn't really know hot to describe it. The bad memories hurt, but honestly good memories hurt more. It was the good times that only hollowed him out and turned him into a shell when he was back to being alone once again. Every time he'd turn a corner and think he saw someone, or just saw something that reminded him of them it just shattered him a little more. Maybe it was that Lance was an Optimist and he was decidedly not. Or maybe it was something else. Still he shrugged.
"I guess I just... haven't had a lot to miss." he explained, though he knew that didn't come out quite right. He frowned at the ground as he tried to figure out a better way to get out what he was trying to say. "I mean, my life has been kind of..." He made another vague gesture, and shrugged along with it. "So when there's something that's important enough to me to actually miss, and it gets ripped away..." He sighed and shook his head. It was frustrating but he was trying to offer a little more insight to Lance than he normally would. He didn't like letting people in all that much, but he cares about Lance. And Lance was the only person he had right now, and it all just felt like so much pressing down on him he wanted to get some of it out. "I guess I'm just bad at coping. I do things like, get myself kicked out of the Garrison for disciplinary issues, and decide to keep myself busy by living in one of the most dangerous places I could choose." He said with a shrug, laughing it off a little.
Or maybe too good? It was too easy for him to settle into a life of loneliness just because he didn't want to care about anyone else just to have them taken form him. He knew he could not stay here, not forever. That couldn't be possible. Or so he told himself day in and day out but maybe that was just his own version of hope blinking through.
Lance had to go and be stupidly cheesy again and he couldn't suppress the eye roll. Still he found himself smiling again and nodding along. "It's not like I was planning on just going back to my forest cave and never coming out now that I've found you." he said with a little chuckle. "Of course, you will have to come back with me at some point. I've collected some gifts for you. Some for the others too, but..." He trailed off, shrugging his shoulders. Maybe he could bring them back here, but he kind of wanted Lance to see what his own living space was like. He was stupidly proud of it after all, he'd made it with his own two hands.
It wasn't impressive, it wasn't even nice like Lance's apartment, but still. He didn't like the idea of Lance wandering around Tuuleen so much, but with him to protect him it eased it a little bit. It was a silly little thing that he wanted to be proud of. Even if he was sure most people would not call it a home by any means it was still his home here. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

from here the stars are far away so we can just let go and let day fade into night He'd never expected to get pieces of Keith's history so easily. He hadn't even pried for them, but they were presented to him in all of their ugly colors. His expression softened while the words fell out of the other Paladin's mouth; normally, he would be roasting Keith to the ends of the universe with all of this mushy stuff, but who was he kidding? Lance was far more along on the "mush" scale. " Well that's good." He responded between the swordsman's statements, letting a smile grow on his lips that looked far more than just relieved. It was true that he'd been alone this whole time, but Keith had a greater understanding of loneliness - more so than Lance ever wanted to know. Those advanced stages were things he didn't think he had the capacity to handle. He hated to admit it, but in that regard, the other pilot was way stronger. Or - maybe - weaker? Depended on how you saw it. The mention of gifts made his shoulders tense up excitedly almost as though he were a kid on Christmas Eve; Lance had this sense of childishness that would never be extinguished, as far as anyone could tell. Whether it be idiotic argumentativeness or ridiculous ideas or antics, there was consistently something about him that could bring a person back into younger days Maybe it was annoying - maybe it was comforting. He didn't know. That smile only grew. " You got us all stuff? Had no idea you were filled with so much generosity!" He had begun to move his body to playfully wrap an arm around his friend, but he froze with an arm extended - right. Awkwardly, he let it fall to his side and he turned his head, grin turning into more of a melancholy smile. For someone as touchy-feely as himself, it was hard to try and eradicate that. Jaw tilting up, Lance admired the awakening stars which were now twinkling in a dark purple sky. The oceanic breeze made his lungs sing while the lights of shops behind them turned off, shutting down for the night. Soon, Oasis would be nothing more than a ghost town of slumber - to the Blue Paladin, that's when it was the most beautiful. He would never truly be able to say how much he enjoyed being another's company all over again. Back in the Garrison, he had Pidge and Hunk. He was never actually alone. This was all so new to him. Without much though, he brought one of his legs up to cross over his thigh so he could reach his shoe. He removed it, as well as his sock, repeating the action with the other. His jacket was the next to go, then hiss shirt. He threw it all to the side then peered down, noting how the waves had calmed to the point of allowing the water to paint a glassy mirror. Lance pushed himself over the edge, splashing into the warm ocean; the water against his skin made him feel comfort, like he was one step closer to home. When his head bubbled up to the surface to regain his oxygen, he floated onto his back slightly so he could examine the distant moon. " I promise it's better if you get in the water. I'll protect you from all the Arus baddies - like minnows." He prompted with a grin, the salt water biting the tip of his tongue. If only he knew about his friend's little "ailment." Keith Kogane notes -- poor lance. doesn't know keith is straight up like... IDK INJURED LMFAO [googlefont=Oswald]
